Vendor Demo: Building a Flexible Future by Combining Online and Classroom Expertise

This is a past event.

Dr. Brian Beatty, Professor, San Francisco State University, Equity, Leadership Studies and Instructional Tech
Co-Presenters: Cathy Littlefield, David Rhoads, Glori Hinck and Jeanne Samuel

Hybrid-Flexible (HyFlex) courses are being used in more institutions of higher education than ever before. Institutions with robust classroom-based and online programs are implementing HyFlex courses and finding ways to combine expertise, resources, faculty and students to create a single course delivery mode that supports both classroom and online students in the same classes. This interactive panel presents the approaches used at several North American institutions with very different contexts, and provides a “best practices” summary that may help others following this path forward and design tips for an efficient move to HyFlex. Audience: faculty, course designers and program administrators.

Dr. Brian Beatty teaches at SFSU and in 2005 pioneered the development and evaluation of the HyFlex course design model for blended learning environments, implementing a “student-directed-hybrid” approach to better support student learning.
